Menlo-Atherton Football FAQs
INFO FOR PARENTS:
How do I sign-up to play football at Menlo-Atherton High School?
Click here and complete the New Player Information Form to add your contact information and receive our e-mail distribution list.
Due to CCS rules, we are not able to contact incoming freshman until June 8, 2019. Those currently enrolled at M-A can begin receiving information e-mails immediately, and are free to contact the coaching staff.
What does it cost to play M-A Football?
The cost of the Summer Workout Program is $500 and the recommended M-A Football Participation Pledge this year is $395. Click here to donate or learn more. Scholarships are available, and NO ONE IS EVER TURNED AWAY DUE TO INABILITY TO PAY.
Does M-A Football fundraise to support the program?
Yes! The total cost per player is over $1000 per player per year. The program receives minimal funding from the Sequoia School District, and the majority of the football program is supported through fundraising and volunteering efforts. All players and families are expected to participate in their support, either volunteering their time or providing monetary support.
INFO FOR PLAYERS:
What do I have to do to play football?
Prior to the first practice in August, all players need to complete an Athletic Clearance Packet and be cleared by the M-A Front Office.
Do I need to have prior football experience to play?
No! Most of the current players had no experience when they started playing. Coaches are experienced in teaching players the fundamentals required to be safe and successful on the field.
Is there an off-season and summer program for Menlo-Atherton Football Players?
All football players have access to our top tier strength and conditioning and football development program. Players are expected to participate to develop strength and mobility, avoid injury, and during the summer master the fundamentals of the M-A playbook.
When is the first day of REQUIRED football practice/tryouts? Are there "cuts" for the team?
The first day of mandatory practices and tryouts is August 8, 2019 for equipment distribution, and double days start on August 9, 2019. There are no "cuts" as long as the player meets the program standard, and also maintains the requirements of the coaches, teachers, and school administration. Student-Athletes must maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA and necessary credits to be eligible to play football.
What equipment is required to play football?
Players only need Spirit Pak items (included in the Participation Pledge) along with cleats. All other equipment is provided by Menlo-Atherton High School and the M-A Football Association.
